The dress I wore was lighter and had a very feminine feel to it. I wanted that to flow throughout the entire photo. I actually stood with my back to the door (my primary source of light) and faced a silver reflector placed a few feet away. The reflector did a good job of lighting my lower half, but it missed my top half. To solve this issue I used my speedlight, pointing directly at the ceiling to create a softer bounce-light. I wanted to focus more on the girly dress this week rather than my face. Normally I would have put my stomach lower in the frame or cropped out the bottom half, but this time I really wanted to included my legs. I think they add a little more femininity to the photo and help show that being sexy is still possible when you're pregnant...and of course, I had to make sure the bottom of the dress could be seen, since that was the focus of this set-up. I pulled the back of my dress out to give the feeling of movement. Maybe I'm in the wind, or walking, or dancing. Whatever the viewer imagines, I wanted the photo to come alive. Simple post-editing included decreasing contrast, increasing brightness and darkening the outer right-hand edge slightly. I try my best to do what i can with my camera and lighting, and as little as possible in Photoshop. Less editing means a more real photo! ISO 100 | Shutter 1/80 | f/6.3 ![]() Friday, March 7th - my prenatal appointment went very well this morning. My midwife and i talked a little about what to expect with a water birth and she gave me a very neat information sheet. Mike and I will be taking a tour of the birthing center in the next few weeks. I tested negative for diabetes, with glucose levels at 99. My hemoglobin was very high at 12.6 and my vitamin D levels were great! I can tell the vitamin D I've been supplementing has really been helping to counteract the negative mood effects of the progesterone. We heard a very strong and loud heartbeat, something that's always reassuring to me. Although, it would've been surprising to not hear a heartbeat since she's become quite noticeably active. She moves all the time! I love it! Even my midwife said "wow, she's a mover!" Tuesday, March 11th - Early this morning i had the weirdest dream! It was just after I'd woken up to go to the bathroom. Baby girl woke up and when i laid down she was moving around that uterus like there was a serious dance party going on in there! I've never had her or Landon move that much during their pregnancies. When I fell asleep she must have still been moving because she was going nuts in my dream too. She moved really low into my pelvis, and for some reason I knew I was going to give birth. I felt some pain but not full out labor, so I'm not sure why i thought she was coming out. But she apparently was. To the person next to me I said "why can't I ever go full term?!" But what i should've asked was "why the heck does my baby look like a pig????" Yup, she was a pig. She was a big pig too! I could see the shape and even some features from underneath my skin because she was pushing outward so far. It was very creepy! Let's hope in real life she at least looks human. |
