Cherry Artistics FAQs

P H O T O G R A P H Y   F A Q s

Can i post images from my session online?

You are allowed to post watermarked images on social networks. Every image you purchase will include a low-res watermarked copy for easy uploading.

Can I crop images?

For printing purposes, images can be cropped so long as the copyright is intact. Full-res digital images that are purchased will have a copyright out of the way of main subjects but also away from the corners and edges to allow for cropping. Low-res watermarked images cannot be cropped.

Will I receive printing rights with my digital purchases?

Yes. Printing rights are included in the price for digital images.

Do you offer a pre-session consultation?

Definitely! I strongly encourage it! Consultations can be done on the phone, online, or in person. Pre-session
consultations are the best way for me to get to know you so that your session can be tailored to meet your needs. These fun and low key meetings can be scheduled for up to an hour...whatever is needed to make you
feel comfortable having me as your photographer.

Do you offer a post-session consultation?

Yes! I definitely encourage a post-session consultation. It's a great way for you to gain confidence that your purchase is exactly what you want and will suit your needs. These relaxed meetings can be done by phone,
online, or in person and can be scheduled for up to an hour if needed.

Do you offer print packages?

I certainly do! I call them Collections. Collections offer prints and products at lower prices and are only available during your private online gallery showing. I am more than happy to help you build a collection, so don't hesitate to ask!

What times of day are best for a photo session?

Every hour of the day provides new challenges and opportunities for incredible photos. But I will say that more light is always preferred over less light.

Do you schedule sessions on weekdays?

At this time, only weekends are available for regular scheduling. Friday sessions after 6:00pm can be scheduled with at least a 2-week's notice. Other weekday evening sessions are only scheduled under very special circumstances and with at least a month's notice. Please check out my calendar for availability.

Will you alter a photo if I request it?

I  am happy to edit a specific photo as requested depending on the severity of the request, as over-editing can make a photo appear edited. I always  keep editing to a minimum, but as part of my basic workflow I will smooth skin,  whiten teeth, etc, as needed. If there is something specific you would like edited in all of your photos, simply let  me know ahead of time!

Is your creative fee refundable?

The creative fee is  non-refundable, but it may be used for a different day if a request is submitted at least two (2) weeks before your original session.

Is a CD included with my session?

Digital images are available for purchase on a CD or flash drive but are not included with your session. I strive to keep my print prices and creative fees low to help make it easier to purchase professionally printed pieces of art that you can enjoy in your home every day!

Will you travel?

Yes. A travel fee is applied to any requested location more than 30 miles from Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Do you have a studio?

I often use my home for newborn and baby sessions, but my primary studio is the great outdoors. I am also happy to do session in your own home.

Is there a limit to the number of people that can be included in a session?

I do not limit the number of people that can be included in your session. Simply let me know how many will be attending to help me prepare for your session. I do, however, suggest keeping the number of people below ten (10) just to help things run more smoothly. If a larger crowd results in a longer session, you will just need to pay for that extra time.

Can I schedule a newborn shoot for less than 3 hours?

Only under very special circumstances. Newborn sessions are carried out at a slow pace. It takes extra time for a newborn to settle in and feel comfortable during a session, and sometimes it can take awhile to get them sleeping. There also needs to be ample time for feeding, changing, and soothing the baby as needed throughout the session. As a result, less time with a newborn will mean considerably less images for you to treasure.

Do you offer redo sessions?

If you dislike your photos, if your child is sick or uncooperative during your shoot (I have an energetic little boy, so I get it!), or if the weather simply doesn't pan out, I am more than willing to reschedule and try again! My main concern is that you have a wonderful experience during the session and that you receive the best photos possible.

Do you photograph weddings?

I currently do not photograph wedding, but I plan to start in the near future. However, if you choose a photographer for your wedding and would like me to participate as a secondary photographer (most professional wedding photographers work with a back-up photographer), I am more than willing to help out for a steep discount! Just ask!

How long does it take you to edit the images from my session?

Your images will be ready to view in an online gallery within two (2) weeks of your session.

How long are individual prints available for purchase?

I keep my original image files on external drives, so as long as I still have the drives intact you can order individual prints and products. Collections are only available during your private online gallery showing.

Am I required to pay for artwork at the time I make a request?

It depends on the request. In most cases you must make a partial payment at the time a request is made to secure your commission. All
commissioned artwork must be paid in full prior to receiving it from me.

Are fees for artwork refundable?

Up until I start your request, the fee is refundable. Once I begin your request, including planning and designing, the fee is nonrefundable. You will be informed as to when I start your
request.

Do you make copies of the artwork you create for me?

I will make copies or take photograph of the artwork I create to keep as part of my portfolio, but you will always receive the original creations.

Do you paint?

I do not typically paint fine art pieces, but I do often use paints to create other types of requests. I leave traditional painting to the experts!

Do you frame drawings or other art pieces?

Framing is done by request for an extra cost. Birthdate canvases are framed as part of the entire creation, but the style and color are arranged with you ahead of time.

What sorts of things can you draw?

I can create anything asked of me, whether it be people, animal, buildings, nature, or abstract.

Do I own the rights to a logo you create for me?

Logos are Work For Hire commissions, so once a logo is paid for in full the rights are handed over to you with a signed contract. I remain the creator and reserve the right to use the logo in my portfolio or for advertising purposes. You own the rights to use your logo as you wish, including copying and advertising, without having to pay me royalties.
